This CMI Level 5 qualification is designed to support individuals in the development of knowledge of professional coaching, helping them understand the core requirements for effective coaching practice. Aimed at individuals wishing to develop their knowledge of professional coaching in order to understand the coaching process, without the requirement to demonstrate the application of skills.

This course is also well suited to HR professionals, team leaders, and aspiring coaches looking to enhance their communication skills, foster trust, and help others achieve meaningful goals. Whether you’re coaching internally or working independently, you’ll gain strategies to manage stakeholder relationships, solve problems effectively, and coach with confidence.
Course duration
This course provides foundational knowledge and skills consisting of one unit and typically takes between two and four months to complete. You can complete this unit faster or slower depending on your availability to study and learning style.
Progression opportunities
Upon successful completion of their qualification, learners are able to progress to further learning within the suite of Level 5 Qualifications in Coaching & Mentoring – i.e. completing an Award and topping-up to Certificate.
Learners may also investigate the opportunity to become a Chartered Manager or enrolling on a higher level qualification with the CMI or progressing on to Higher Education study.

Course content
Learners must complete one unit to a minimum of 60 TUT hours, 6 credits to achieve this qualification. The minimum GLH is 14 hours.

533 Strategies for delivering Professional Coaching (TUT 70)
The Professional Coach must utilise their knowledge, skills and expertise when selecting and using strategies for the delivery of professional coaching. Choosing the best approach can be challenging. This unit introduces a wide range of strategies for delivering professional coaching. It also explores the influence of coachee’s values, behaviours and culture on their ability to engage with the coaching process. On successful completion of the unit, the Professional Coach will be able to apply their understanding of approaches, models, tools and techniques to develop a strategy to respond to different needs and expectations of coachee’s.

You can also achieve a Level 5 Qualification in Principles of Professional Coaching by completing a Certificate Level course.
The qualification is the same, the durations and depth of knowledge depends on the amount of units you are committed to complete, ie Award – 1 unit, Certificate – 2 units. More information on both options for this Level 5 Coaching qualification available here.
